The Audi A3 is a compact car that has been in production since 1996. It was first introduced as a premium alternative to traditional compact cars, and it quickly became one of the most popular models in the Audi lineup.
The first generation A3 (Mark I) was introduced in 1996, it was available as a three-door hatchback and was based on the Volkswagen Group A platform, shared with the Volkswagen Golf, Seat Leon and Škoda Octavia. It was offered with a range of engines, including a 1.6L, 1.8L and 2.0L gasoline engines, as well as a 1.9L diesel engine.
In 2003, the second generation A3 (Mark II) was introduced with a new design, it was bigger and more spacious than the previous generation. This version was offered with a new range of engines, including a 1.6L, 1.8L, 2.0L and 3.2L gasoline engines, as well as a 2.0L diesel engine. The A3 Mark II was also available in a sporty S3 version, which featured a 2.0L turbocharged engine and a sport-tuned suspension.
The third generation A3 (Mark III) was launched in 2012, it featured a new design and a range of new engines, including a 1.4L, 1.8L, 2.0L and 2.5L gasoline engines, as well as a 2.0L diesel engine. The A3 Mark III was also available in a sporty S3 version, which featured a 2.0L turbocharged engine and a sport-tuned suspension.
In 2019, the fourth generation A3 (Mark IV) was introduced, it featured a new design and a range of new engines, including a 1.5L and 2.0L gasoline engines, as well as a 2.0L diesel engine. The A3 Mark IV was also available in a sporty S3 version, which featured a 2.0L turbocharged engine and a sport-tuned suspension.
The current, fifth generation A3 (Mark V) was launched in 2020, it featured a new design, new engines and new technologies, including a 1.5L and 2.0L gasoline engines, and a 2.0L diesel engine, the A3 Mark V was also available in sporty S3 version, which featured a 2.0L turbocharged engine and a sport-tuned suspension.
Throughout its history, the Audi A3 has been known for its quality, performance and premium features, it has consistently been one of Audi’s best-selling models. It continues to be produced today and is sold in many markets around the world.
The first generation (Type 8L) was announced in June 1995, but was introduced to the European market in 1996. It is the first Volkswagen Group model to use the “PQ34” or “A4” platform, very similar to the modern Volkswagen Golf Mk4.
In 2003, the second generation Audi A3 (Typ 8P) was presented at the Geneva Motor Show. Initially released only as a three-door hatchback with four-cylinder engines, it featured a new car platform (the PQ35 platform), a redesigned and more spacious interior, new petrol engines with fuel stratified injection (FSI)
In 2012, the third generation Audi A3 (Typ 8V) was presented at the Geneva Motor Show. With this model, a Cabrio and a Sedan version appear, which are slightly larger than the hatchback versions. The range of engines is large, with the smallest engine having a displacement of 1.0 cc, generating 116 PS (85 kW; 114 hp) and acceleration from 0-100 in 9.9 seconds.
In 2020, the last and newest version of the Audi A3 with the production name (Typ 8Y) was presented. This model is inspired by Lamborghini, LED headlights and taillights, with the option of Matrix and Laser LED headlights. This car is on the MQB evo platform. It is 3 centimeters longer and wider than the previous model, while maintaining the same wheelbase length
